Uganda Kiira EV PDF Print E-mail
Electric vehicles are gaining tremendous limelight recently, and even African nation like Uganda has started to produce their very own EV, dubbed as the Kiira EV. Basically, the respective electric vehicle was designed by students at the Makerere University in Uganda, and they have just recently unveiled Uganda’s first EV, which was developed over the course of 3 years.

The Kiira is a two seater vehicle, and it has a max speed of 150 km/h. The EV’s battery is good for 80 kilometers on a single charge. Also, the spokesperson disclosed that all the components used to construct the Kiira was constructed and designed in Uganda, making it a domestic vehicle. Also, the Kiira symbolizes Uganda, and the creators wanted to send a clear signal to the western counterpart, in which Uganda has the talent and expertise to develop such vehicles. Apparently, the same team that developed the Kiira, is now working on another 28-seat EV project that would be used for public transportation. Here’s a glimpse of Uganda’s first green vehicle (the car is literally green too!):
