RIM’s BlackBerry messaging system came into the limelight recently, whereby the Saudi Arabia government made an infamous decision to ban the device from their country, whereby they claimed that the device can be used by terrorists for communication purposes. Nevertheless, the Saudi government has already lifted the ban, after RIM agreed to share the decryption code for their messaging services.
On the other hand, it seems that RIM has hit yet another spat with another government, whereby the Indian government is threatening to impose similar ban on the BlackBerry, citing that these devices can be used for malicious security purposes. However, reuters have reported that RIM is already working close with the Indian government, whereby it seems that RIM might be granting the government something called the ‘lawful access purposes’.
Do you think that the Indian government will ban the BlackBerry?
