Mobile processors are getting more energy efficient over the years, whereby manufacturers strive to deliver processors that consume very little power from the battery, while doubling the processing power in the process. Of course, Qualcomm is one of the industry’s leading mobile processor manufacturer, and recently, the company has disclosed their Snapdragon S4 SoC, which promises extended battery life and enhanced true world capability.
Apparently, Qualcomm has shifted to the 28nm manufacturing process, whereby the onboard components are smaller, better thermal performance, while drastically lowering power consumption. The latest processors will enjoy 60% boost over the Scorpion lineup, and clockspeeds will range from 1.5GHz to 2.5GHz. Also, the latest chip manages to score 50% better performance over the Adreno 220 GPU too, and it also supports DirectX 9.3 on Windows 8, and OpenGL ES 1.1 and 2.0.
